In celebration of International Tiger Day 2023

on

We pay tribute to the Sariska tigers and their resilience, supported by the efforts of the ethnic minorities living in Sariska Tiger National Park.

Their population has more than doubled in 5 years, from 14 individuals in 2017-18 to 33 individuals today.

Special thanks to the women for their direct contribution to digging the monsoon water retention ponds for tigers, wildlife and livestock.

Our thanks also to,

  • Communities for having developed self-fine system for combating illegal activities; cutting trees, poaching wildlife and tigers.
  • Communities’ volunteers for keeping surveillance on the forest in their village vicinity and reporting any illegal activities to park rangers.
  • Project team have regular interaction with Tiger Reserve’s staff and rangers. KRAPAVIS also invited them to in the interfaces with communities, recently animal specialist from Sariska Tiger Reserve made a presentation in our workshop.

With limited financial means, as is the case in all conservation activities 😉 but with our commitment intact, KRAPAVIS and I are delighted to be able to continue implementing the project: Integrating tiger conservation and coexistence in Sariska Tiger Reserve.
